what is the set notation? Here we will describe some important sets, so you can easily understand. This post belongs to chapter 1 “function and limits” for 12th class students and above.

Examples

(1) Set of Natural numbers is basically denoted by “N”.

N: {1,2,3.4,5,6,…..}

(2) set of Whole numbers is denoted by “W”.

W:{0,1,2,3,4,5,6,……..}

(3) set of Integers is denoted by “Z”.

Z: {……,-4,-3,-2,-1,0,+1,+2,+3,+4,….}

(3.1) Set of positive Integers is denoted by “Z+”. Z: {+1,+2,+3,+4,…..}

(3.2) Set of Nagetive Intergers is denoted by “Z¯”. Z‾: {-1,-2,-3,-4,…….}

(4) set of Even numbers is represented by “E”. E: {0,±2,±4,±6,±8,…..}

(5) Set of Odd numbers is symbolize “O”. O: {±,1,±,3,±,5,±7,…..}
